FCC investigating Verizon ETF rate hike

As I have tweeted, I thought the Verizon ETF hike was a crock of shit and was unwarranted. I am very happy to see that the FCC felt the same as I did. It was clear that Verizon was doing more than just guaranteeing they were recouping their prorate costs. They were forcing people to stay prematurely and profiting from it to boot. I completely understand that these phones are subsidized and that you can’t have it both ways, but I think its only fair that responsible ETF fees are given.

In a perfect world, we would not have ETF fees and we would be able to use any phone we want. Yes, we would pay full price but I can guarantee you that the “full price” would not be the gazillion dollars the cell phone companies would like us to believe. Want proof? Ask the rest of the world :-)

I'm John Oliver. I'm a 30 something geek living in Dover, Delaware. I enjoy technology, gadgets, new media (facebook, twitter, tumblr), design, and all of those do it yourself reality shows on HGTV.

I use this blog as an outlet to voice my opinion on various topics. Using tumblr's awesome tools, I enjoy sharing links back to good articles (I call them good reads) along with a small narrative with my take. Most will be technology focused but I will sprinkle in a bit about me and other current events type stuff.

Enjoy!
